Dennis E. Welhouse | Sep 23, 1948 ~ Dec 24, 2024 | 76 Years Old
Dennis E. Welhouse passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Eve after a short, courageous battle with lung cancer, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on September 23, 1948, to Ed and Ursula Welhouse (Vosters). After graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1966, he enlisted in the Army Reserves, achieving the rank of Drill Sergeant. After returning from service, he started a family and lived most of his life in Hollandtown. He was employed by Haen Meats, Red Owl Grocery Store, and Schmidt Building and Equipment as a salesman for 35 years, where he formed many lasting friendships with his customers.
Dennis loved watching the Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR, but what he enjoyed most was watching his son, Chad, and his grandsons play baseball. After retirement, he moved "up north" to Pickerel Lake—his favorite place! He loved sitting and watching the lake or sitting in the driveway, waiting for someone to stop by for a beer. Up north, he enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his UTV, and just "putzing" with his brothers and friends. He volunteered with the snowmobile/ATV clubs and the lake association in the Pickerel Area.
Dennis was hardworking, had a positive attitude, always wore a smile, and had a story to tell. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He touched so many lives in so many ways. He will truly be missed by all.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Sheri (Ben) Vosters; ex-wife, Nancy Welhouse; daughter-in-law, Libby Welhouse; grandchildren: Colton, Cash, and Cooper Vosters, and Griffen and Niah Welhouse; siblings: Dan (Linda) Welhouse, Darrel (Karen) Welhouse, and Lisa (Dave) Hartjes; step-siblings: Debbie DeCoster, Doris (John) Van Heuklon, Vickie (Jim) Zolpriester, Kim Fassbender; brothers-in-law: Dennis Hoffmann, Tom (Yun Cha) Hoffmann, and Ken Hoffmann; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Carol Mielke. He is further survived by many other family members and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chad Welhouse; his parents, Ed, Ursula, and Ardene Welhouse; his in-laws, John and Jean Hoffmann; and his brother-in-law, Bill Hoffmann.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Francis Church, 433 County Road CE, Kaukauna (Hollandtown). Visitation will take place at the church starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
Our family extends our deepest appreciation and thanks to Dr. Umang Gautam and his oncology team, along with all of Dad’s other caregivers at Aurora Baycare Medical Center, for their compassionate care.
They say there is a reason, they say that time will heal, but neither time nor reason will change the way I feel, for no one knows the heartache that lies behind our smiles. No one knows how many times we have broken down and cried. We want to tell you something so there won't be any doubt: you're so wonderful to think of, but so hard to be without…
