Gregory John Coenen, age 84, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. Greg was born on December 17, 1938, in Little Chute, WI, son of Norbert and Loretta (Kortz) Coenen. He met his soon-to-be wife, Carol Weyenberg, during Christmas when they were 16 years old. They wed on November 6, 1958, at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Greg had a long history in finance for the automobile industry. He started his career at Sherry Motors before opening C + T American Motors for over 10 years. He then took a job at Yineman- Dorsch, finally retiring as the financial manager at Van Boxtel Ford. After retirement, Greg and Carol enjoyed their home on Legend Lake making lasting memories with their family. They also spent ten wonderful years at The Villages in Florida. Greg enjoyed golf, traveling, hunting, and his yearly “guys trip” fishing in Canada. Greg’s greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He truly loved every moment of being a Grandpa.

Greg will be missed by his wife of 64 years: Carol Coenen; their children: Daniel (Kim) Coenen, Corrine (Michael) Herbert, Gwen (Steve) Skinner, Paul Coenen, and Dawn (Derek) Doberstein. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Michelle (Joe), Michael (Sara), Jill (Josh), Jason (Shanique), Mitchel (Yuriko), Matt (Ashley), Megan (Joseph), Rebecca (Sam), Chloe, Madeline (Kevin), and Rachel; as well as 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother: Daniel.

The Funeral Liturgy for Greg will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY SITE, 600 East Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, WI, with Father Carl Schmitt officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital are appreciated. The Coenen family would like to thank Father Jude, Dr. Freeman, and ICU nurse Lisa Reynebeau, for their loving and compassionate care. They also would like to show their gratitude to the Appleton paramedics, firemen and police for their assistance.
