Alice M. Ahrens August 1, 1938 — August 22, 2022 Combined Locks

Alice Marie Ahrens (nee Vangrinsven) age 84 of Combined Locks, WI passed away August 22, 2022. She was born to John and Leocadia (Stuckert) Vangrinsven on August 1, 1938. Alice graduated from Kimberly High School with the class of 1956. She married the love of her life, James Ahrens on June 1, 1963 and together, they raised 5 children.

Alice was a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother to 19 wonderful kids whom she cherished more than anything else in the world. She loved watching Kimberly sports whenever she could, as well as Dr. Phil whenever he was on TV. Alice enjoyed going out to eat at Mohnen’s Restaurant and many other places. She also took pride in her diamond point painting and her expertise in putting together jigsaw puzzles. She also loved tending to her flower gardens with Jim, and together with him, she raised some of the most beautiful and colorful plants in her neighborhood. On sunny days, you could often find Alice sitting on her porch swing, watching the birds and feeding the squirrels that wandered in her yard.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, John and Leocadia Vangrinsven; her parents-in-law William and Dolores Ahrens; her brother, Lloyd Vangrinsven; and her brother-in-law, John Ahrens.

Alice is survived by her husband, Jim Ahrens; her children, Tom (Pat) Ahrens, Todd Ahrens, Randy (Sue) Ahrens, Kelly (Dave) Kortz, and Mark (Josie) Ahrens; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, Bob (Ann) Vangrinsven; her brothers-in-law, Richard Ahrens and Billy (Tina) Ahrens; and her special friends, Nancy Seidl, Donna Wichmann, and Bev Vandenberg.

A memorial visitation for Alice will take place on Monday, August 29 from 9-11 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace St, Combined Locks, WI with a memorial mass to follow at 11 AM. Alice will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery in Combined Locks. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Alice’s memory to Kimberly High School Sports.
