Yvonne F Van Hout Scherer Gregorius October 20, 1933 — October 4, 2022

A golden heart stopped beating. . .

It is with great sadness that the family of Yvonne Gregorius announces her passing after a brief illness, on October 4, 2022, at the age of 88.

Yvonne’s father loved to do fixer-upper projects so she lived in many homes throughout her life. Just about the time the house was the way they wanted it – they’d move to another home that needed fixing up. Because of that, Yvonne got the chance to make many lifelong friendships.

Yvonne started her working career at her family’s grocery store, Van Hout Grocery. She worked many years at Design Directions, and finished her career in the Kimberly Clark office at Badger Globe Mill, retiring in 1989.

Yvonne attended St. Pat’s in Menasha kindergarten through eighth grade and was a proud Menasha Blue Jay, class of 1951. Yvonne was an avid bowler which she enjoyed doing with her husband, Earl.

She loved good food, puzzling, gardening, reading, playing cards and socializing. She will truly miss her family, classmates, the Falcon Ladies, and the “Briarwood Bunch”.

Yvonne leaves behind three daughters; Debra J. Kister, Darla J. Scherer (Dar Dutcher), Della J. (Don) Tipler, and a very good friend of 50 years, Diana Schmidli. Six grandchildren; Ryan Wilson (Brandy Brockman), Gretchen (Spencer) Carlson, Sara (Rich) Barnes, Monica Kister, Nathan Kister, and Stephanie Tipler. Four great grandchildren; CJ Kister, Seth Mathieus, Samantha Kister, and Hailey Sprangers. She also leaves behind three step-daughters; Barb (Dan) Hermans, Connie (Curt) Cleveland, and Pam (Steve) Smolinski, four step grandchildren; Ron Hermans, Christie Cleveland, Chad Cleveland, Greg Smolinski, Brad Smolinski, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, CJ and Martha Van Hout, husband Earl Gregorius, daughter, Dana J. Scherer, two sisters and their husbands; Eunice (Pat) Earle and Frances (Ken) Swedberg and ex-husband Harvey Scherer.

Yvonne would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, puzzling, and reading to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce.

She left detailed instructions for her family to celebrate her life here so join us in the celebration of Yvonne’s life on her birthday, October 20, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri County Chapel in Menasha. Please wear jeans and a sweatshirt as Yvonne always said, “I’m a jeans and sweatshirt kinda gal.”
