Lynn A. Maas January 23, 1940 — February 1, 2023 Appleton

Lynn A. Maas, age 83, passed away peacefully February 1, 2023. She was the only child of Gregory and Naomi (Hawley) Schindler. She attended grade and high school in Appleton and graduated from what is now Appleton West in 1958. In High School she met Glenn Sonnleitner. They were married in 1959 and the couple had three children during their 18 years together. She then met Donald Maas and the two shared 29 years together traveling and golfing.

Don and Lynn spent time golfing in Florida, participating actively in their church and sponsoring international children. Lynn was a social butterfly who enjoyed chatting with her friends and attending the PAC as well as volunteering there. She also loved to dance and spent time in The Villages, FL listening to bands and socializing.

Lynn took a special trip to Costa Rica and was so proud to have tried the zip line! Following Don’s death, her adventurous spirit continued, and she spent time with her Wednesday night friends sharing meals, trying new things, and just enjoyed being together.

Lynn is survived by her children: Scott (Debra) Sonnleitner, Appleton, Chris Gregory Sonnleitner, Kaukauna, and Kelly (Hal) Writer of Colorado; Don’s children: Mary Robare of Arizona, Donald (Percy)Maas of the Philippines, Kathleen Maas of Appleton; Anthony (Bronwyn) Maas of Appleton; her grandchildren: Cassondra, Shawn, Ty, Michael, Tiana, Jordan, Trudy, and Tess as well as Don’s grandchildren. She is further survived by great grandchildren: Layluh, Hunter, Zayden, Evangeline, Brantley and Everly and the great grandchildren of Don as well.

Lynn was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Don, her parents, Don’s children: Sandy, Randy, Michael, Gary, Elizabeth, Theresa, and Tracy and other friends and family.

A memorial mass for Lynn will take place on Saturday March 4, 2023, at 11:00am at St Bernard’s Catholic Church. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:00am until the start of mass. Lynn will be placed next to her husband at St Mary’s Cemetery, Appleton.
