etty M. Mathison March 14, 1934 ~ January 31, 2023 (age 88)


Betty M. Mathison passed away at home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 after suffering a heart attack. Betty was born on March 14, 1934 to William and Rose Plamann. Bets married Robert Mathison on March 6, 1954. After living in various places while Bob served in the Air Force, they settled in Freedom to start their family before moving to the Town of Menasha. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Betty is survived by her husband of 69 years and their children: Sue (Steve) Voight, Jeffrey “Bubba,” Laurie (Mark) Dorn, Kyle, John (Deb), Rachel (Randy) Wolf and Robert “Gus.” She was a loving grandma and grandma-grandma to: Eric (Stephanie) Voight, Cadyn and Gabe; Timothy (Tracy) Voight, Mitch (Amanda) Voight, Jordy, Corbin and Gunnar; Hailey (Chad) Dercks, Audrey, Jack and Charlie; Cole (Amy) Voight, Ellie, Ben and Madie; Jared (Nicole) Dorn and Abby; Megan (Ted) Strub, Violet and Nelly; Allison (Seth) Hatley, Olivia, Henry and Lucy; Taylor Dorn, Kylie Wolf, Elijah (Lorna Caswell), and Hixon. She is further survived by sisters-in-law; Joyce Plamann, Carol Mathison and Dorothy Wappler; brother-in-law, Marshall Mathison and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws: John and Hattie Mathison; grandson, Nicholas Voight; her sisters: Grace (Doc) Young and Dorothy (Rev. Adelbert) Geiger; her brothers: Ken (Gwen) Plamann, Bud (Elaine) Plamann and Richard Plamann; and her brothers-in-law: Bud Mathison and Warren Wappler.

A funeral service for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3703 Fairview Rd., Neenah, WI with Pastor Paul Meyer presiding. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School, where all her children and grandchildren graduated.
