Obituary Geri M (Geraldine Margaret) Nienhaus Kempen


Darboy - Geri M. Kempen, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 25, 2021. She was born on May 11, 1934, daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Schultz) Nienhaus. She married Gerald "Gerry" Kempen on February 11, 1956.

Geri enjoyed cooking, especially her "world's best" hamburgers for her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was proud of each of them and loved them tremendously. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and casino bus trips.

Geri is survived by her husband, Gerry Kempen; daughter, Kathy (Dan) Kenney; grandchildren: Jeff (Beth Soderberg) Chandonais, Luke Chandonais, Beth Chandonais, Laura (Austin) Kenney-Nelson, and Alysa (Nick) Kenney-Jarolimek ; great grandchildren: Brock, Grant and Trent Chandonais and baby Nelson due in August; brothers: Lyle (Lola) Nienhaus and Whitey "Butch" (Nancy) Nienhaus; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gloria Nienhaus, Ciel Kempen, Arlene Bruecker, Janice (Erv) Nettekoven, Hal (Diana) Kempen, Sue (Paul) Datta and Lavern (Dave) Weigert; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Frances Nienhaus; sister, Barbara Nienhaus; brothers: Dick "Ox" and Tom "Tubby" Nienhaus; brothers and sisters-in-law: Marion Kempen, Marvin Kempen, Lorna (Bill) Van Handel, Roger Bruecker, Paul Kempen, Frances Kempen, Bonnie (Ann) Kempen and Dick Kempen.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home LITTLE CHUTE LOCATION, 101 Canal Street. Mom I want you to know that being your daughter is a blessing. And despite our differences at times, I respect you mom. I love you, always!
