Obituary

James F. Schuh, age 92, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021. He was born in Freedom on May 20, 1928 to the late Fredrick and Catherine (Meulemans) Schuh. Jim graduated from Freedom High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army in both the Philippines and Korea. He was also a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 and proudly participated in the Military Honor Guard at 146 funerals. He married Julia (Judy) Coenen on October 15, 1949 at St. John's Church in Little Chute, and they shared 67 years together while raising seven children.

Jim worked at the Kimberly mill until his retirement in 1988. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and playing Blackjack, Sheepshead, and Rummy. He also enjoyed his trips with Judy to Las Vegas and Florida.

Jim is survived by his children: Gary Schuh, William (Mary Jo) Schuh, Jim (Yvonne "Buff") Schuh, all of Kaukauna; Mike (Cheryl) Schuh of Appleton; Jeff (Lynn) Schuh of Mackville; sons-in-law: Charlie (Nancy Biesterveld) Janssen of Kimberly and Terry Schuh of Freedom; 18 grandchildren: Brian Janssen, Amanda Janssen, Tim (Brenda) Schuh, Sarah (Niels) Quist, Jenny Schuh, Bill (Kari) Schuh, Dan (Alissa) Schuh, Chris (Josh) Minzlaff, Kevin (Krystal) Schuh, Chad Schuh, Tammy (Bryan) Renaud, Stephanie(Joe) McHugh, Todd (Shanel) Schuh, Kerri (Greg) Klister, Kayla (Tyler) Mader, Leigh (Brett) Bogenschutz, Kelly (Michael) Sturm, and Eric (Alli) Schuh; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Aurella) Coenen; Shirley Carlson; and Jerry Smith. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Judy, Jim was preceded in death by his daughters, Karen Janssen and Sue Schuh; father and mother-in-law, Henry M. and Nettie (DeBruin) Coenen; sisters (brothers-in-law): Virginia (Joe) Martin, Rita (Leland) Tessen, Cecelia (Joe) Smet, and Dolores Smith; and brothers (sisters-in-law): Richard (Betty), Harold (Pat), and Theodore (Shirley) Schuh; sisters and brothers-in-law in Judy's family: Lois (Dave) Pomeroy, Sharon (Tom) Belling, Gloria Coenen, and Norm Carlson.

A private funeral will be held at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He will be buried in the parish cemetery.
