Ronald Francis Coonen Obit

Our wonderful, smart, handsome, sarcastic brother passed away on September 3rd with his beautiful daughter Wendy (Coonen) Maestas and her loving family at his side. Ron was the second son to Melvin and Isabel Coonen. He graduated from Premontree High School. He worked in our Father's business, Coonen Oil, before relocating to Albuquerque where he worked Federal Security for Sandia Laboratories on Kirtland Air Force Base until 2004. Ron was an Army veteran.

Ron was an early riser and a homebody. He enjoyed landscaping, woodworking and projects around the home. He built swings, ramps and canoes. He did woodworking for others when he could. One Christmas, Ron made a wooden patio swing for his parents and drove it to Arizona. He loved to work and refurbish old cars and there was a 1941 Packard in the garage he was working on at the time of his death. He always had a hobby of some sort, photography, cycling, coin collecting, tennis and he loved listening to music and thePackers.

A memorial was held on September 22 in Belen, NM with his daughters, grandchildren, family, friends and neighbors. A special thank you from all of us go to his daughter Wendy, her husband Anthony and her children Anthony and Tiana for taking such good care of him up to his final days. Words cannot express how grateful we are.

Ron was preceded in death by his Father Melvin, Mother Isabel, his brothers Tom and Gary, and his sister Jeanette. He is survived by his children and grandchildren and his brothers Melvin, Eugene, Mike and Emery. He is also survived by his sisters Karen, Sharon, Rosemary, Suzanne, Debra and Marilyn.
