On May 22, 2023, Merl Schermitzler, loving wife and mother passed away peacefully at the age of 81 in Appleton, WI.
Merl was born in Appleton, WI to Edward and Angeline Smarzinski. Merl was married to William “Bill” Schermitzler for 58 years.
Merl loved her Badgers, Brewers and especially her Green Bay Packers. Merl also loved card games, board games and wintering in Yuma, AZ with Bill for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her son, Keith (Mary); daughter, Kim (Mark) Huhn; her sisters: Carol Perkins, Pat Schulze and Nancy Hoelzel; sisters-in-law: Nancy Schneider and Gayle Schermitzler; four grandchildren: Greta, Henry, Molly and Alex; 1 great grandchild, Wyatt; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Merl’s honor to The Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home Kaukauna Location, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive. Memorial Service to follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
