Michael F. Schreiber January 4, 1935 ~ May 22, 2023 88 Years Old

Michael F. Schreiber, age 88, of Darboy passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning, May 22, 2023 at his home. He was born on January 4, 1935 at home in the Town of Center, Wisconsin, oldest of 14 children born to the late Michael and Margaret (Schmidt) Schreiber. Michael proudly served his country with the US Army. On September 10, 1957 he married Alice Sprangers at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Darboy. Their marriage was blessed with 11 children and 48 years before Alice passed away on December 8, 2005. Mike was a hard-working man, earning him the nickname, Iron Mike. He lived his life to the fullest, always anticipating what the new day would bring. His positive spirit was enjoyed by everyone he met, especially the nurses who supported him during his extended illness. He was a trucker, a devoted father and grandfather, and a man of great faith. His love for driving truck started at a young age driving tractor between the two dairy farms his family owned, one in Darboy and the other in Mackville. He drove various truck routes for several different companies until his late retirement at the age of 83.

He is survived by his children: Dennis (Deb); James (Maria) and their five children: Eric, Alyssa, Brad, Mitchell, and Scott; Norbert (Susan) and their four children: Jaime, Benjamin, David, and Phillip; Pamela Wolff and her three children: Christopher, Jeremy, and Bryan; Michael (Lisa) and their four children: Brent, Alanna, Samuel, and Daniel; Christine (Andres) Rodriguez and their three children: Nicole, Skye, and Chyeann; George (Lori) and their three children: Abby, Anne, and Maggie; Bruce (Wanda) and their three children: Austin, Brett, and Madison; Kenneth (Gwen) and their three children: Erica, Bryce, and Kendra; Lori (Eric) Ashbrenner and their six children: Brooke, Nathan, Alice, Grant, James, and Nora; Stan (Dana) and their two children: Larkin and Ava; 33 great grandchildren; siblings: Ray (Lois) Schreiber, Jerome (Dianne) Schreiber, Silvia (Gary) Breier, Bob (Mary) Schreiber, Ron (Kathy) Schreiber, Joe Schreiber, Angie (Jim) Hall, Mary (Mike) Olson, Sue Jacobson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim Schmalz, Clarence Schneider, Mary Sprangers, Linda Sprangers; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, and his beloved wife, Alice, Mike was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, George and Mary Sprangers; an infant brother, Eugene; siblings: Marge Schmalz, Barb Gillis, Beck Schreiber; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gin (Butch) Friebel, Eileen Schneider, Gerald Gillis, Chuck Jacobson, Charles Sprangers, Fred Sprangers, George Sprangers Jr., Lillian (Leon) Hartzheim.

Funeral Mass for Mike will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish – Darboy (E2796 Calumet St). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Kaukauna’s Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Funeral Home (2401 Fieldcrest Dr.) and again at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment with military honors will take place at Holy Angels Cemetery immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established to assist with tuition at Holy Spirit School.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Mike’s neighbors, Jeff and Sandy Stumpf for their love and care shown to Mike for the past 45 years, and especially these last couple years.
