Earl J Verhasselt September 6, 1945 ~ May 21, 2023 77 Years Old

Earl J. Verhasselt, age 77, of Kaukauna passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton. He was born on September 6, 1945 at his family home in Kaukauna, son of the late Isidore and Josephine (Meulemans) Verhasselt. Earl proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. On September 13, 1968 Earl married Delores “Dolly” Coffey at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with four children, eight granddaughters, and 54 anniversaries. Together Earl and Dolly bought their farm on Bodde Road in October 1970. Earl’s family will remember him as a gentleman. He was a humble, witty man who knew how to tell a story and was always quick with a joke. Earl loved the outdoors and enjoyed countless hours working in his workshop. He loved spending time with his granddaughters, playing cards with friends and traveling with his lovely wife. He maintained lifelong friendships with those he served along side in Vietnam. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly; children: Jennie (Mike) Eggleston, Kaukauna, Tony (Shelly) Verhasselt, Kaukauna, Judy (Steve) Bodoh, Kimberly, Jodi (Ryan) Verhagen, Kaukauna; his lovely granddaughters: Grace, Emma, and Ella Eggleston, Bre (Sarah) Verhasselt, Karissa Verhasselt, Makayla Meyer, Abby and Lea Verhagen; siblings: Dorothy (Ted) Vosters, Fr. Dave Verhasselt, Tom (Terri) Verhasselt, Pat (Bill) Brockman; siblings-in-law: Joyce Verhasselt, Evelyn Verhasselt, Marilyn Verhasselt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Dolly’s parents: Edward and Marion Coffey; his siblings: infant twin brothers, Betty (Rich) Van Zeeland, Len (Betty) Verhasselt, Rose (Gerry) Vande Burgt, Joe (Joanne) Verhasselt, Agnes (Clayton) Vande Burgt, Bob Verhasselt, James “Butch” Verhasselt.

A Memorial Service for Earl will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Kaukauna’s Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home with Father Dave Verhasselt officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Military honors will follow the Christian Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established to assist wounded and disabled veterans.
