Judith A. (Huss) Ver Bockel May 20, 1950 ~ January 14, 2023 (age 72)

Judith “Judy” Ver Bockel (Huss) went to heaven Saturday, January 14th to be with her son Josh. I had the honor to be her husband for 52 years. Judy worked at Badger Northland and then at Van Abel’s where I met her. It was meant to be. I gave her an engagement ring at midnight mass hoping she wouldn’t refuse. It worked.

Judy was the oldest daughter of Cy and Marge Huss and having two older brothers learned to play a mean game of Sheepshead which she loved. Cribbage was a close second. At the cottage, the first thing was one or two rounds of cribbage before breakfast and then a noon break of another few rounds. The evenings were spent with the grandkids playing cards, board games or bingo with a bin full of treasured prizes.

If she got a phone call during a Packer game, she would tell me to answer it. She was a Bucks and Badger fan. She was a lover of U.W. Women’s volleyball and tennis. Judy loved spoiling her grandchildren, encouraging them and just taking the time to talk with them as well as making desserts for each one of them of their favorites.

Our house was always full. We had three sons (Shane, Heath, and Josh) and many foster children. Four of our foster children were adopted (Kathy, Debbie, Mike, and Katie). We also became guardians of our granddaughter, Lexi. Judy and I said we were never lonely.

Judy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clarence Ver Bockel; their four children: Shane (Shelly) Ver Bockel, Heath Ver Bockel, Mike Ver Bockel, Katie Ver Bockel; daughter-in-law, Amy Ver Bockel, as well as her grandchildren: Noah, Gabby, Bryce, Nick, Kylie, Aubrey, Emily, Paige, Reed, Lexi and Esteban. She is also survived by: Gene (Mary) Huss, Mary Huss, Janice (Mark) Mc Morrow, Tom Dreger, Carol (Billy) Schiltz, Joe (Peggy) Huss, John (Peggy) Huss; Clarence’s family: Joan Beach, Mary Fassbender, Jan and Cliff Van De Loo, Lynn and Fran Leurquin, and sister-in-law, Joanne Ver Bockel. Judy is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Josh Ver Bockel and daughter, Kathy McCall; her parents: Cyril and Marge Huss; granddaughter, Ali Ditter; a sister, Diane Dreger; her brother, Dick Huss; Alice and Ed Marx, Agnes and Cliff Rademacher-Norbert, Karner, Tom Beach, Theresa and Leo Fink, John Ver Bockel, Gene and Mariann Ver Bockel, Ken Fassbender, and Jerry and Carol Ver Bockel.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2022 at Holy Cross Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning at church starting at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
