Obituary
Ralph Lloyd Acker, age 94, of Appleton, was called to his eternal home on April 10, 2022. Ralph was born on May 1, 1927, in the city of Appleton to the late George and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Acker. He was a graduate of Appleton West High School, Class of 1945.

Ralph was employed by The Appleton Post Crescent as a photographer, retiring in 1993 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed his job and the many people he met during this time.

From 1955 to 1957, Ralph served his country in the Army with a Photo Unit.

Ralph married the love of his life, Carol Jean Kirschenlore on October 25, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. She preceded Ralph in death on October 24, 2020. He was brought into his faith by baptism at Zion Lutheran Church and was confirmed at First English Lutheran Church. Ralph was a faithful and dedicated member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Appleton where he served as a communion assistant and usher.

During his retirement, Ralph enjoyed golfing and bus trips. Ralph was a past Exalted Ruler of the Appleton Elks Lodge #337. He was a member of the Appleton Noon Lions Club where he was in charge of their collection of eye glasses.

Ralph is survived by his son, Ralph William; his granddaughters: Rosemary Lynn, Tina, and Emily; and by many loving nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; daughter-in-law, Karen; his parents: George and Elizabeth Acker; his infant sister, Edith; his brothers: George and Harold; and sisters-in-law: Lois, Delores, Esther, and Althea Acker. Also preceding him in death are his wife’s parents: Herbert and Erma Kirschenlore and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Glen Kirschenlore.

A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home (101 Canal St., Little Chute, WI) at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery.
