      Pilgreen, Naomi C. Naomi C. Pilgreen, age 87, of Appleton, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Franciscan Health Care Center. Naomi was born July 8, 1918 in Minot, North Dakota. Her parents Anna (Thoen) and Charles Midto have preceded her in death. Naomi grew up in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. On May 1, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin she married Hollis Pilgreen, a southerner from Mississippi. They lived the first six months in Amarillo, Texas- then returning to Milwaukee. In 1958 they moved to Appleton, taking over an auto supply business. In June, 1976 Hollis died of a heart attack after being on disability for three years.

      Naomi worked several different jobs under Green Thumb. She always took her vacations at Elderhostels throughout the U.S. and one overseas in Thailand. Travel and education were utmost in her mind.

      Her only sibling, a sister, Geneveve, died on January 19, 1989, a daughter, Thelma, died in September 2001.

      She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn, Appleton, Wisconsin and Dolores, Tigerton, Wisconsin; a son, Randy (Sue), Poplar Grove, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

      Naomi requested to be cremated.

      Memorial services will be held at Valley Funeral Home on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Todd Smith officiating.
