    • Barbara A. Muehl, 66, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday evening, March 4, 2014, at home.

Born June 17, 1947, in Rhinelander, she is the daughter of the late Alfred "Red" and Vera (Hedke) Lequia. Barbara is a 1965 graduate of Rhinelander High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from UW-Eau Claire in 1969 with a BA in Secondary Education/Language Arts. Barbara taught for 31 years within the Kewaunee School District, as an English and writing educator; junior class and newspaper advisor; forensics coach; and union member serving as the local president, grievance chair, and public relation. She was a proud member of the National Education Association, Wisconsin Education Association Council, and Bayland UniServ (BLUE).

Barbara married Dennis W. Muehl, her very best friend and partner, on August 14, 1976, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rhinelander. Dennis preceded her in death on October 31, 1995. Barbara was also a member of the State and County Democratic parties; St. Mark Lutheran Church; and Lake Largo Condo Association serving as secretary and on the social committee. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of Mah Jongg; card playing; counted cross stitch; reading; playing with her pet friends and feeding birds and assorted "critters"; Democratic causes; spending time with family and friends; and enjoying and caring about people. Barbara simply enjoyed having fun. She always exhibited humor and compassion. Barbara loved life with all its "ups and downs". She was a firm believer in the saying, "What goes around, comes around." Optimism was her guiding principle.

Barbara is survived by her beloved step-son and best "KIDDO", Gregory (fiancee' Cyle Ann Wickstrom) Muehl of Ledgeview; one sister, Rosemarie (Stephen) Schreiter of Appleton and nephew, Todd (Elizabeth) Schreiter of Fond du Lac; nieces, Julie (David Bradley) Bogard of Waupaca, and Beth (Michael) Lewis of Appleton; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Lequia) Kuchera of West St. Paul, MN, and Kathryn (James) Biese of Little Chute; nieces, Jennifer Bertrand of Green Bay and Tina (James) Perenboom of Combined Locks; and numerous other great nieces and nephews. Further survived by special friends, Kathryn and Michael Daley; Petrene Daley; Marsha and Gary Brown; Carol Norman; Judy and Ken Charles; Karen and Dale Seiler; and Beth Johnson.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; brother, Joseph Lequia; and her father and mother-in-law, Walter and Nila Muehl.

Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
