- Norma Lee Van Eperen, Kaukauna, age 75, died peacefully at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute on Wednesday evening, April 6, 2011. She was born on May 13, 1935 in Alameda County, California, daughter of the late Henry Georgian and Helen (Booker) Smith. Norma attended grade school, high school, and college in California. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1962. On May 27, 1981 she was united in marriage to Roger H. Van Eperen. Norma was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #3319 and the American Legion Post #160 of Smyrna, Georgia. Norma enjoyed traveling worldwide with the love of her life and they visited every state in the United States! She also loved bowling, going up north, spending time with family and friends, attending theatre at the PAC, and NASCAR races.
She is survived by her children: Mary Berlin and William (Cheryl) Berlin; her husband's children: Pat (David) Biese, Gary (JoAnn) Van Eperen, Sharon (Gary) Sherman, Barbara (Al) DeCoster, Laura (Robert) Jansen, and James (Kim) Van Eperen; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, nieces, and nephews. She is further survived by a brother, Tom Smith; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Anthony Van Eperen, Theresa (Ronald) Van Groll, June (Floyd) Miller, Mary (Gordon) Becker, Maxine "Mickey" Byrd, and Jeannine Van Eperen.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fritz Smith and Gary Smith; brother and sisters-in-law: Theresa Van Eperen, Louis Van Eperen, Ann Thompson, Richard Van Eperen, and Donald Van Eperen.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Norma will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy celebrating. Friends will be received at church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. It was Norma's wish that her remains be buried at sea. Full Military Rites will be conducted by Electric City Post #3319 of Kaukauna following the mass at church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Norma's name is being established for Electric City Post #3319 of Kaukauna.
