  • Notes
    • Appleton - Priscilla Gallarin Vandenberg, age 88, of Appleton WI went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 4, 2018 surrounded by her devoted children. She was diagnosed with cancer just three weeks earlier.

Priscilla was feisty and active every day. She was a lifelong bus rider in the Appleton area. She openly engaged other passengers, and helped many with advice and donations. Everywhere she went she kept people laughing. Priscilla was extremely proud of her children, and enjoyed frequent visits from her children who took her on many trips, to the casino, shopping, rummage sales and thrift stores.

Priscilla loved music, moscato and was an energetic dancer, celebrating her life with every birthday being a dance party.

Priscilla was born in the Philippines and was raised by her sister. She survived the Japanese occupation of the Philippine Islands during WWII witnessing the sacrifices of American soldiers.

Priscilla came to the United States in 1963 after marrying SSGT Roy Joseph Vandenberg and became a US Citizen in 1972. She was very proud to be an American. She loved the United States and Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother in addition to her husband Roy Joseph, (Roy and Eva Vandenberg of North Superior Street, Appleton WI) Priscilla also missed her son, Peter D. Vandenberg (Victoria Vandenberg), who preceded her in death in 2010.

Priscilla is survived by sons, Patrick Vandenberg (Carol Hawes) of Racine, Paul Vandenberg (Amy) Neenah, daughters Ann V. Warzyn of Waukesha, Sue Gendreau (Scott) of Greendale and Joan A. Woldt (Mike), of Oshkosh; as well as her 7 grandchildren Zachary and Alexandra Vandenberg, Nick and Joe Warzyn, Sam and Cole Gendreau, and Hans Woldt.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Home with visitation from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, with a short service starting at 5:30 pm. Priscilla requested that visitors not wear black at her service. Afterward, family and friends are invited to gather for food and drink in a celebration of her life at one of her favorite places, The Bar, in downtown Appleton. For memorial contributions, the family has designated Goodwill Industries.

We wish to give our thanks and gratitude to Dr. Shanthi Joseph for her many years of care of Priscilla and our Affinity hospice nurse Jenni Doris who provided extraordinary care of Priscilla and helped our family immensely through this difficult time.
