    • Jean Bayha Van Krey, 74, of Blacksburg, was called to the loving arms of her Savior on Saturday, February 16, 2008. Jean spent her life as a kind, thoughtful and caring person. Her gentleness extended to all those she knew. She is survived by her loving husband, Harry. They were happily married for 55 years. She is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzie and Lester Karlin, of Blacksburg, and Karen and Stephen Ayers, of Blacksburg. She is further survived by her grandchildren, April Ayers, Dallas Ayers and wife, Heather, Rachel Karlin and fiance, Christopher Potter and Sarah Grace Karlin. Other survivors include Peter and Gale Van Krey, of Kimberly, Wis., John and Shirley Van Krey, of El Cajon, Calif., Tony and Joan Van Krey, of Kimberly, Wis., Joseph and Judy Van Krey, of Menasha, Wis., Frank Diehn, of Little Chute, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Grace Bayha; her in-laws, Martin and Jane Van Krey; and her sistersin-law, Anne Diehn and Mary Van Krey. Jean retired from Virginia Tech after 30 years of service in the Office of Sponsored Programs. As an active member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, she had served as a member of the Parish Council, the Finance Council, and as a team member of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Jean was also a dedicated volunteer at Montgomery Regional Hospital, an avid golfer and toiled endlessly with her many beautiful cross-stitch creations. The family will receive friends at the McCoy Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, February 19, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted by the Rev. Father James Arsenault at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 705 Harding Avenue, Blacksburg, Va., at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Interment will follow at the Westview Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad at 200 Progress Street, Blacksburg, Va. 24060 Published in the Roanoke Times from 2/18/2008 - 2/20/2008.
