    • Phyllis A. Awishus (Dexhiemer, Treichel, Schmidt) 90, of Appleton died Monday December 27, 2010 at Emerald Valley Nursing Home. Phyllis was born October 18, 1920 a daughter of Harvey and Leona (Lambie) Dexhiemer. Phyllis married Martin Awishus in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1983.

      Phyllis enjoyed volunteering her time and talents to several local organizations including the Salvation Army, St. Vincent De Paul, and at Leaven.

      Phyllis is survived by four children, three daughters, Monica (Henry) Frances, Marie (James) Walker both of Missouri, Kathryn Awishus of Appleton, a son, Thomas (Diane) Schmidt of Missouri; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia (Norman) Hallaran of Wi, Janet (Jerry) VanBoxtel of Wi, two brothers, Robert (Ramona) Treichel of Az, and Ronald (Annette) Treichel of As; she is also survived by 61 nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Eleanor Nemitz of Appleton.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Martin, a daughter, Clara Ann Boice, brother, Carl Treichel, three sisters, Ruth Dexhiemer, Dorothy Cook, and Nancy Nahnsen, and a grand daughter, Jennifer Murphy.

      In keeping with Phyllis's wishes no local services will be held. Inurnment will be at St. John's United Church of Christ in Stolpe, Missouri.

      Phyllis's family would like to thank the entire staff of both Emerald Valley and Theda Care Hospice for their care and compassion. The Wichmann Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
