- Pennie L. Kavanaugh, Kaukauna, age 72, died Saturday January 25, 2014. She was born in Appleton on March 22, 1941 to the late James and Mabel (Marzahl) Andrews. Pennie married Thomas J. Kavanaugh at St. Mary's Church in Kaukauna on September 17, 1960. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1990. Pennie hosted over 55 foreign exchange students through the years. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Pennie touched many lives through her involvement with the Girl Scouts, foster care, and PALS programs. She was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Pennie is survived by her children: Karolyn (Bill) Maloney, Kaukauna; Kristine (Robert) Pyke, Frederic; Kimberly (Keith) Buman, Kaukauna; Kal (Sherry) Kavanaugh Kaukauna; Kay (Chris "Boomer") Verboomen, Kaukauna; honorary daughters "Chip" Chorthip (Tim) Sullivan, Chicago; and Regina Koszta, Hungary; grandchildren: Keely, Keegan and Kesler Maloney, Travis and Justin Pyke, Uriah, Zachary, Asia and Levi Buman, Hunter Kavanaugh, Christopher, Alyssa and Caleb Voigt, Satia Kavanaugh-Vanderloop, Kayden and Xander Verboomen; Aunt Doris Marzahl; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Don (Marilyn) Kavanaugh, Janice Kavanaugh, Sharon (Jim) Stadler, and Sue (Paul) Gerrits. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pennie was preceded in death by her granddaughter Santanna Verboomen; and father and mother-in-law: Edward and Susan Kavanaugh.
Visitation will be held Tuesday January 28, 2014 at BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH (124 W. 10th St. Kaukauna) from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Levi Willems will officiate.
