    Kaukauna - Kenneth J. Van Elsen, age 98, died Thursday, February 8, 2018. He was born in Milwaukee on October 1, 1919 to the late John and Sylvia (Meulemans) Van Den Elsen. Ken married Marie Killian on October 6, 1945 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kaukauna. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2015 after 70 years of marriage. Together, they were lifelong members of Holy Cross Parish. Ken proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life member and past commander of the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. Later, he was chosen to participate in the Old Glory Honor Flight. Ken was also a life member and past commander of the Moose Lodge. He owned and operated the Red Owl stores in Little Chute and Seymour. He then worked as a carpenter until his retirement and was a member of the Carpenters Union for over 50 years. Ken and Marie were snowbirds for 30 years, travelling to sunny Florida each winter.

    Ken is survived by his children: Lynn (Dan) Siebers, Ocala, FL; Dale (Rosemary), Kaukauna; Karen (Dennis) Seidl, Sturgeon Bay; Kathy (Richard) Janssen, Combined Locks; and Dawn (Weslie) Bougie, Appleton; grandchildren: Mark (Becky) Van Elsen, Karen (Mark) Weyenberg, Brian (Cecelia) Van Elsen, Tammy (Steve) Estes, Troy (Jessica Slavin) Seidl, Amanda (George) Langenhuizen, Ashley Janssen, Adam Janssen, Amber (Tyler) Zak, Kayla (Alex) Broehm and Lexi (fiance Matt King) Bougie; great grandchildren: Lindsay, Emily, Clayton, Allison, Madeline, Grant, Andre, Eli, Olivia, Hunter, Skylar, Cora, Tucker and 2 on the way; sister: Muriel Frank; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Jean (Herb) Hermsen, Paul (Jeanne) Killian and Bill Vanderloop. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents and wife, Marie, Ken was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elaine "Penny" Van Elsen; siblings: Erna (Percy) Spice, Gloria (Bob) Hash and Raymond (Marlene) Van Den Elsen; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Bob Frank, Joyce Vanderloop, Rita (Frank) Wagner and Bob (Claire) Killian.

    Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer St. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate.     Hash, Gloria M. Gloria M. Hash, Appleton, 79, went home to the Lord at Appleton Medical Center on Friday, April 21, 2006. She was born in Kimberly on September 1, 1926, daughter of the late John and Sylvia (Meulemans) Van Den Elsen. Gloria was married to Robert Kobussen for 25 years and then to Robert Hash for 29 years. Both preceded her in death. Gloria was proud to be a homemaker and took great pride in raising her eight children. She was a wonderful cook and loved to sew.

    Gloria is survived by her children: Peg (John) Ponfil of Darboy; Gene (Laura) Kobussen of Little Chute; Mary Jo (Lee) Hammen of Kimberly; Debbie Herbst of West Bend (special friend, Bob Duchow); Sue (Rob) Ristau of Kimberly; Pat (Bob) Hoffman of Park Falls; Rick (Cindy) Kobussen of Kaukauna; and Dan (Cheri) Kobussen of Kimberly; grandchildren: Johnna (Todd) Brown, Jodi (Paul) Bartel, Missy Ponfil, Molly Ponfil, Michelle Omar, Mike (Stephanie) Kobussen, Lee (Claire) Hammen, Lori (Jimmy) Henderson, Brad Hammen, Scott Herbst, Ryan Herbst, Eric (Kelly) Ristau, Jenelle Ristau, Adam (Dani) Hoffman, Keshia Hoffman, Kristi Kobussen, Katie Kobussen; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Ken (Marie) Van Elsen, Raymond "Bud" (Marlene) Van Den Elsen, and Muriel (Bob) Frank.

    She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Kobussen, and her husband Robert Hash, her parents; and her sister, Erna (Percy) Spice.

    The funeral Mass will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at St. John Catholic Church, 323 Pine St, Little Chute, with Fr. Patrick Beno officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.

    The family extends a special thank you to Gloria's caregivers, family, friends, and all who kept Gloria close in prayer.

    A memorial fund in Gloria's name is being established.

    Raymond Van Den Elsen, 81, Kaukauna, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Kaukauna, son of John and Sylvia (Meulemans) Van Den Elsen. Ray married Marlene Dyer on Dec. 30, 1950, and she preceded him in death Feb. 27, 2009.

    Ray was the owner and operator of Vans Construction in Wrightstown. He enjoyed woodworking and making projects for his children and grandchildren. Ray was an avid Packers and football fan, holding season tickets for several years. He was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church (St. Paul's), Wrightstown.

    Ray is survived by his children, Wanda (Gregory) Baeten, Kaukauna; Patti (Richard) Secoolish, Kannapolis, N.C.; Steven Van Den Elsen, Salisbury, N.C.; Joseph (Anita) Van Den Elsen, De Pere; Martin (Jodie) Van Den Elsen, Wrightstown; Phillip Van Den Elsen, Greenleaf; Dwayne (Sue) Van Den Elsen, Little Chute; Gerald (Brenda) Van Den Elsen, Greenleaf; Curt (Amy) Van Den Elsen, Wrightstown; grandchildren, Travis (April), Amanda (Brian), Bradley (Jonette), Kevin (Kelly), Christa, Anthony (Jennifer), Paula, Christopher, Kim, Scott, Nichole (Tom), Stephanie, Terry, Sara Ann, Jessica, Anthony, Chaka, Jacob, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Blake, Carly, Isabelle, Quincy, Andrew, Morgan, Kiera, Sasha (Jason), Anthony, Crystal, Aiden; great-great-grandchildren, Matthew and Caleb. Further survived by a brother, Ken (Marie) Van Elsen; a sister, Murial (Bob) Frank; a sister-in-law, Mildred Brunson.

    Ray was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Erna Spice and Gloria Hash; and a brother-in-law, Richard Dyer.

    A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at St. Clare Parish, St. Paul Site, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.

    Vissers, Waltera J. "Wally" Waltera J. "Wally" Vissers, 94, Ottawa, Ohio, passed away Aug. 11, 2006, in Ohio. She was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Wrightstown the daughter of the late Henry and Dina (VanDenElsen) VanLaarhoven. On Sept. 12, 1933, she was united in marriage to Adrian "Jack" Vissers. He died Oct. 14, 1989. Wally was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society and the Ladies Royal Order of the Moose in Findlay.

    Survivors include three daughters: Diane (John) Platten, Crocket, MO; Juanita (Deane) Dolseng, Lexington, KY.; Barbara (Bill) Laubenthal, Ottawa, Ohio; a daughter-in-law: Carol Vissers, Oneida, Wis.; one sister, Etta Morgan, Ottawa, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

    She is preceded in death by a son, George Vissers; a granddaughter, Sandy Platten; a brother George VanLaarhoven; and a sister, Ann VanDenLangenberg.

    Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher funeral home in Seymour on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, from 4 until 8 p.m., prayer service at 7 p.m. and Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oneida from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery Oneida.

    Waltera was six years old when she and her sister, Anne, were put in St. Joseph's Orphan Home in January of 1919. Waltera's brother George stayed with an uncle six months in Coleman, Wisconsin until he was old enough to be placed in the orphan home with his sisters. Waltera's other sister, Henrietta, stayed with a neighbor for about six years. Their father, Henry, remarried to Anne Lechterman, and went to live on a farm in Oneida, Wisconsin. At this time, the children: Waltera, Anne and George were taken out of the orphanage and then lived with their father. Henrietta, who had resided with an older neighbor, then also joined her father and family.
