- Albert J. Ebben, age 94 of Appleton, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at King Veterans Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 21, 1922 to the late William and JoHanna (Vanden Broek) Ebben. Albert was drafted into the Army and Honorably discharged in 1946. He was a proud veteran who continued his loyalty as a member of American Legion Post 38. Al was a member of Catholic Knights, Knights of Columbus and St. Edwards Catholic Church. He was employed at Fox River Tractor for 21 years as a time keeper/time study engineer and maintenance. He always enjoyed family and friends, sightseeing, fishing, woodworking and road trips with the grandkids. His wife Elaine of 71 years preceded him in death, July 21, 2015.
They were the proud parents of Shirley (Len) Kurey, Black Creek, Rosie (Jim) Wurl, Seymour, Theresa (Lloyd) Mastrodonato, Shawano, Ronald (Susan) Ebben, Black Creek, Gerald (Lisa) Ebben, Appleton and Marylee (Joe) Wickersheim, Appleton, 18 grandchildren and 33 great grand children, two sisters; Frances Braun, Santee CA and Rose Mary Van den Huevel, Seymour, sister in law, Mary Ann Erickson, Appleton. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Besides his loving wife Elaine, he was preceded in death by brother, Cornelius (Jack) Ebben, Appleton, sister Katherine H. Hoes, West De Pere, and Sister Felice Ebben, Milwaukee, brothers in laws, Rueben Braun, Santee, CA and Albin Hoes, West De Pere.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2926 State Hwy 47, Appleton with Rev. Walter Stumpf and Rev. Charles Brooks concelebrating. Visitation will be held at the church, Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, with a prayer service at 7:30, then visitation will continue from 9:00am until 10:45am, Monday, August 8, 2016 prior to the service.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to King Veterans Home, especially the 4th floor of Olson Hall staff and Sister Martha for their excellent care given to Albert and to St. Edwards parish and school for the years of prayers and cards given to both Albert and Elaine during their stay at King.
Dad, you are at peace now and with mom. Family, faith and a giving heart are the values you passed onto us; we will follow in your footsteps. We love you.
