      Gordon L., Hennes, Kaukauna, age 88, died peacefully Tuesday, August 18, 2009, with his wife and children by his side. He was born on May 31, 1921, to Ray and Myrtle (Taylor) Hennes in Appleton. Gordon married Gilda Wulgaert on February 25, 1946, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. Gordy served in the Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Merak and Geo. McKenzie (1942-1945). After the war he was a bricklayer all his life until he retired in 1985. Gordy belonged to the Elks Lodge #962, Knights of Columbus Council #1033, member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and former member of the Fox Valley Golf Club. He enjoyed his cabin in Tipler and was an avid sportsman. He loved to fish and was still bow hunting at the age of 87!

      Gordon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gilda; his daughter, Bev Weyenberg, Kaukauna; his sons: Bob, Rick (Kris) and Glen (Cathy) all of Kaukauna, and Jim (Gail) of Minnesota; and a sister, Ethel Mitchler. He is also survived by Gilda's sister, Vi Johnson. There are 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

      Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Jim Weyenberg; a brother, Raymond; a sister, Esther (Roland) Schwalenberg; brothers and sister-in-law: Bill Mitchler, Dick Johnson and Rella (Alfred) Collins.

      Visitation will be held at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna) Friday August 21, 2009, beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate. Military rites conducted by the William Verhagen American Legion Post 60 will immediately follow Mass. Committal will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna.
