Another Pioneer Passes to her Final Rest.
      Mrs. Peter Essler

Mrs. Francis Essler died Saturday afternoon at 12:45 from enlargement of the liver, which commenced its inroads on her health two years ago; she was confined in her bed about two months when death came to her relief after bidding her family a fond farewell as she passed to the great beyond.

Mrs. Essler was the mother of a large family and had been a hard-working woman all her life, and had been of invaluable assistance to her husband during all the years of their married life. Together they had earned an easier place in life and just as this goal was reached, she laid down her burden and sank to her last long rest.

Francis Reichel Essler was born in the southern part of Germany and came with her parents to America when she was eighteen years of age. They arrived at Menasha and one year later she was married at Holy Angel's church at Darboy to Peter Essler, where they lived until twenty-six years ago when they moved into this city and have ever since resided here, except one year on their farm near Stephensville. Returning to Kaukauna, they purchased the vacant home of their daughter, Mrs. Frank Weinkauf on Tobarnoir street and retired from active live.

Surviving is her husband and children as follows: Peter Jr. and John of Kaukauna; Henry of Brillion; Mrs. Lena Weinkauf, Appleton, Mrs. Katherine Kilgas, Mrs. Mary Derus, Kaukauna; Mrs. Emma Weisler of Stephensville; Gertrude, Anna, Sylvester and Grace Essler at home; also four sisters and four brothers as follows: Mrs. Kate Yingling, Mrs. Teckin Koeptner, Mrs. Teresa Verbockle, Kaukauna; Mrs. Mary Habermeier, Germany; Fred, Jacob, Otto and John Reichel of this city.

The stricken husband, Peter Essler, is one of this city's pioneer settlers, having been born here in 1846, or 67 years ago.

The funeral was held from Holy Cross church Tuesday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. P. J. Lochman, vicar general of the Green Bay diocese, officiating, with interment in the family lot in the parish cemetery.

The deceased was a member of the Christian Mothers society which organization as well as the Catholic Order of Foresters, attended the services in a body.

Among those attending the last sad rites were Mr. and Mrs. Weisler of Stephensville; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Essler of Brillion; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weinkauf of Appleton; Mrs. Josephine Couillard and Mrs. Mary Hill, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. M. Grode, Menasha; Martin Walters of West Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Williams and Louis Williams, Mrs. Gretchen Roehrl, Mrs. Mary Dicks and Mrs. Joseph Weisler, Appleton.

The pallbearers were from the C. O. F. and were as follows: Dan Reardon, A. P. Bayorgeon, Frank Ashauer, John Mueller, Barney Schlude and Theo. Schmalz.
