Simon, Ann (Johanna Weyenberg)
Ann Simon, 93, Little Chute, died peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute, with her children and godchild, Nancy, by her side. She was born Sept. 12, 1914, in Freedom, daughter of the late Matthew and Elizabeth (Gerrits) Weyenberg. She married Arthur Simon on Feb. 28, 1935, and he preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1984. Together they farmed and later owned and operated Simon Cheese Factory for many years. Ann was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, along with their Resurrection Choir. She also was a member of the Golden Agers. Ann enjoyed sports, especially the Packers and Badgers, along with playing cards and the occasional trip to the casino.
Ann is survived by a daughter, Sr. Clare, Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, Green Bay; a son, David (Judy) Simon, Little Chute; four grandchildren, Sarah Simon, Doug (Renee) Simon, Chris (Sarah) Simon and Susan (Robert) Samuels; ten great-grandchildren, Aubree, Olivia, Santana, Isaiah, Emary, Isidore and Alexia Simon and Jaden, Kendyl and Alyssa Samuels; in-laws, Theresa and Ivol Vanden Heuvel, Marion (Cooney) Simon, Tony Simon and Irene Simon; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents, sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Arthur DeWildt; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Hattie Weyenberg; and Raymond and Esther Weyenberg. Also preceding her in death were members of her husband's family, Joseph and Marie Simon; Clarence and Elsie Simon; Lawrence Simon; Sylvester and Gladys Simon; Vincent and MaryLouise Simon; George Simon; Dorothy Simon; Marie and Gordon Burhop; and Margaret Raymond Woehrer.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Fr. David Funk O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
Ann and her family would like to thank Parkside Care Center staff for their care the last two years, special friend, Mary Kerkhoff for her years of companionship and care along with her Befriender, Glady Minten for her faithful visits for so many years. Mom specifically asked that we thank you, and so we do and are so grateful for all of you.
