    • Leona "Yoni" (Brown) Vandenberg, age 84, of De Pere, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013. She was born May 5, 1929 to Edwin and Elinora (Reschke) Brown. Leona attended De Pere High School. On May 25, 1954, she married Alvin Vandenberg. She worked as a telephone operator, and a cook at Odd Fellows Home, Corner Cafe and McDonald's. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, cooking and baking. Leona was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenleaf.

      Survivors include her husband, Al; children: Dan, Sue and Dennis Vandenberg; brothers and sister: Harvey (Loretta) Brown, Nancy Verheyen and Richard (Gail) Brown; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Sr. Germaine Vandenberg and Leo (Merry Jo) Vandenberg; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as special family members: Sheryl, Tim, Courtney and Christopher Biersteker.

      Leona was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Leo (Veronica) Brown.

      The family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital for the exceptional care they gave Leona during her final weeks.
