- Milton C. Fuerst

Age 79, died peacefully Saturday, August 6, 1994 at Americana Healthcare Center after a long siege of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He was born January 4, 1915 in Neenah, the son of the late Louis and Lena Fuerst. He lived in Appleton all of his life, and graduated from Appleton High School in 1934. He married Julia Godschalx in 1940, sharing 53 years together. He was employed by Neenah Foundry as a Project Engineer, before his retirement in 1980. Milton was a charter member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and served on the Building and Grounds Committee. He was a member of the Appleton Knights of Columbus no. 607 and the Neenah Foundry Quarter Century Club. He was an avid wood carver and a post member of the Wisconsin Chippers. He enjoyed traveling, boating, reading, and most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Julia; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Ruth Fuerst, Zanesville, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Robert and Lorraine Fuerst, Appleton; and Carlton and Jan Fuerst, Racine; five grandsons: Greg and Jane Fuerst; Denny and Mi Jeong; Matt, Jeff, and Douglas; four great-grandchildren: Jessica, D.J., Lauren, and Brett; two aunts: Lydia Schramm, Sheboygan; and Ella Pirner, Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard in 1961. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. O.H. Janssen officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Parish wake service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Swanson, Dr. Ryan, Dr. Guenther and the staff of Fox Valley Oncology and Hematology; the great nursing staff on Four Southwest at Appleton Medical Center for their special care and support during this time, the Appleton VNA; and the caring nurses at Americana during his last peaceful days.
