    • Agnes Coonen, age 96, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005, at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna. She was born October 23, 1908 to Jacob and Nellie (Van Domlen) Lamers. She married Wilfred Vandenberg on June 3, 1930. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1974. She then married Elmer Coonen on November 30, 1980. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1987.

      Agnes was a life-time member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir for many years, and also was president of the Ladies of Holy Name. She worked with the Mission Ladies from the time they started until a few years ago. Agnes volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a pink lady for 25 years. She was involved in Girl Scouting for many years and was chairwoman of the yearly cookie drive. And Agnes was a member of the Kimberly Homemakers Club.

      Survivors include her sons, Jim (JoAnn) Vandenberg, of Rothschild, Wis., Gene (Marian) Vandenberg, of Kimberly, and her daughters, Eileen (Paul) Petrie, of Stockbridge, Wis., Phyllis Smits, Kimberly, and Lois (Ralph) Gage, of Appleton; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Vandenberg, of Phoenix, Ariz.; there are 35 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a brother, Arthur (Leone) Lamers, of Kaukauna; a sister-in-law, Germaine Lamers, of Kimberly; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Bongers, of Appleton. Agnes was preceded in death by her husbands Wilfred and Elmer, two sons, Wilfred and David, a daughter, Joyce, a son-in-law, Ron Smits, two grandsons, Douglas Smits and Mark Vandenberg, and eleven brothers and sisters.

      The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Name Campus, 620 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly. Rev. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. until the time of services directly at the church.
