      Behnke, Alan Ralph
      Alan Ralph Behnke, Brillion, passed away on Dec. 20, 2008, at home. He was born July 3, 1923, in Brillion, to the late John and Vivian (Houghton) Behnke. He married Yvonne (Bonnie) Lewis on April 12, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa. They celebrated almost 58 years of marriage before her death on March 25, 2002.
      He enlisted in the Army on April 19, 1943. He received airplane mechanic schooling at AFF Seattle. He finished his tour in Gulfport, Miss. Upon discharge in 1946, he joined the family business, National Lumber Co., in Manitowoc. He retired on June 28, 1983. Retirement was short-lived as he then went to work as a truck driver for Professional Plating for several years.
      He served as an alderman for Brillion for several years and on various boards at St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church. Dad was a talented woodworker who could building anything, from the house he lived in to beautiful handcrafted furniture. His passion was his family and riding his Harley. He was known around Brillion as "the old man on the Harley."
      He is survived by four daughters and five sons-in-law and their families, Faith and Walter Sonnabend, Brillion, and their three children, David and Brigette, and their children, Parker and Hilary, Erin and Kurt Propson, Hilbert, with their three children, Drake, Grant and Meghan; and Laura and Joe Deba, Parker Colo.; Diane and David Buboltz, Brillion, and their three children, Melissa and Jon Day with their daughter, Savannah, Charity and David Plate and their son, Dominik, Brent and Jennifer Buboltz with their three children, Jasmine, Caleb and Aliya; Deborah and Charles Wismer, Neenah, and their daughters, Alison and Jacob Fries and children, Henry and Sylvia of Madison, and Erika and Bob Rabin, Plymouth, Minn.; James and Betty Wyngaard, Brillion, and his three children, Adam and Erin Wyngaard of Decatur, Ill., Kaitlyn and Emily Wyngaard; Susan and Richard Hammond, Brillion, and their children, Justin and Andrea Chupita with their children, Ashlyn and Lauren, Menasha, and Nicole Chupita and friend, Domminic Gifford, Green Bay. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers; and daughter, Kristine Wyngaard.
      Funeral services will be held on Dec. 23, 2008, (Tuesday), at 5 p.m. at St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church in Brillion, with the Rev. Mark Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the Brillion Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Wieting Funeral Home of Brillion is assisting the family.
      Dad, thanks for all the good memories. You were the "hub" of our family, our "go-to" guy and the best "candy bar Boppa"!
