    • Seymour - Irene H. (Ambrosius) Smith, 98, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Meadow Wood Assisted Living in Seymour. She was born January 11, 1920, daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Rentmeester) Ambrosius. On November 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Ruben George Smith at Immaculate Conception Church. He preceded her in death December 10, 1970.

      Irene was in the very first adult choir, at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom which started in 1939 and is still an honorable member. She sang for most of the weddings from 1940-1970 and sang on the radio stations WABY and WTAQ for the Noon Show. Alice and Irene also had personal appearances with the "Farm Hands" at many dance halls.

      She was also a member of the Enna Memorial Choir, a charter member of the Fenton Art Glass Collectors of America, Fenton Finders of Wisconsin, and her golf group.

      She is survived by her sons: James (Shyla) Smith and Thomas (Trudy) Smith; grandchildren: Randy (Connie) Smith, Mike (Julie) Smith, David (Gretchen) Smith, Trista (Jared) Dauk, Drs. Tara (Brian) Mullen and Tamsyn (Dave) Pequet; great-grandchildren: Jerrett, Jameson, Trevor, Katie, Holly, Hope, Trentin, Aidan, Keaton, Sage, Nathan, Sienna, Ella and Gavin; siblings: Patricia Deering, Kaukauna; Mary Lou (Bernie) Van Dreel, and Robert Ambrosius.

      Irene is preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan James Smith; sisters, Alice Daul and Mildred Kleuskins; brother, James Ambrosius; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Bob Deering, Don Kleuskins, Joe Daul, Bill Linskins, Monie Ambrosius and Geneva Ambrosius.

      Friends may call at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom on Monday, May 21, 2018, from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 12 Noon with Father Walter Stumpf officiating.
