    • Emmett James Joyce, 93, passed away on March 12th, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born March 28, 1923, in Wrightstown, Wisconsin to the late William and Gertrude (Golden) Joyce.

      Emmett graduated from St. Norbert High School and attended St. Norbert College. He married Dolores Remmel on June 24, 1948 at St. Joseph's Church in West De Pere in a ceremony performed by Abbot Pennings.

      Emmett was a proud dairy farmer and resided on his farm from birth until his death. He was a member of St. Paul's and St. Clare's Catholic Church in Wrightstown for his entire life. He was 100% Irish, and loved telling stories of his three trips to Ireland.

      Emmett also worked as a correctional officer at the Green Bay Correctional Institution for two decades, and served as a supervisor for the Wrightstown Town Board for many years. His lifelong passion was aviation. He loved to attend air shows and was still taking flights into his 90s.

      He is survived by his children, Dennis (Jane), Mequon, Steven (Mary), Mansfield, Ohio, Kathy, De Pere, Kevin (Mary Beth), Green Bay, Jeff (Diane), Wausau, daughter-in-law Sara, Kingston, Sue, Milwaukee, Pat, De Pere, Geralyn (Michael) Roherty, Marshfield, and Michael, Milwaukee.

      Emmett was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren: Alexander (Katelyn), Erin (Matt), Ryan, Meghan, Genevieve (Will), Kaitlyn (Chris), Kyle (Melissa), Dillon (Caty), Abby, Logan (Caitlin), Brendan, Casey (Nick), Tesfaye, Helen, John, Mulugeta, Sam and three great-grandchildren, Emmett, David and Porter. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Lenore Sullivan and Sarah Joyce and brother-in-law Bill Ebben and numerous nieces and nephews.

      Emmett was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, son David, siblings, Lillian (Judd) Baxter, Kate (Norb) Peters, Irene (Les) Neuman, Ethel (Jim) Faulds, Bill Joyce Jr., Helen Ebben, and Patricia Joyce.

      Family and friends may call at St. Clare Parish, St. Paul Wrightstown Site, 437 Main Street, beginning at 9:00 AM on Thursday, March 16, 2017. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
