Age 69, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 5, 1995 at Appleton Medical Center. John was born June 27, 1925 in Mackville, son of Anthony and Anna (Van Schindel) VanBommel. John was employed at the Appleton Police Department, Cloud Buick, and at Orkin Exterminating until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. John is survived by a daughter, Mary K. (John) Buck, Bell Air, Maryland; a step-daughter, Mary Francise (Gary) Kohl, Sheboygan; four sons: Kurt Van Bommel, Joel (Linda) VanBommel, all of Appleton; James (Elizabeth) VanBommel, Fond du Lac; Martin (Monica) VanBommel, Germany; a step-son, Ralph (Kay) Kamps, Madison; a brother, Joseph VanBommel, Menasha; 11 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth in 1958 and his second wife, Dorothy in 1991. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, 1995 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Menasha with Fr. Orville Janssen officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. The Laemmrich Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
