Nackers, Leona (Vissers)
Leona (Vissers) Nackers, 93, Town of Wrightstown, passed away on January 5, 2009. She was born on November 19, 1915, in the Town of Lawrence to the late Martin and Cecilia (Wilmet) Vissers. On May 24, 1938, Leona married Sylvester Nackers at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in De Pere. Sylvester and Leona farmed all of their life in Wrightstown.
Leona was a member of the Christian Mother's Society at St. Paul's Parish in Wrightstown. She did volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul, Green Bay. Leona loved her grandchildren, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and oil painting. She was an excellent seamstress.
Leona is survived by her children; two daughters and one son-in-law: Marjorie Dupont, Wrightstown; Mary and Mark Chan, Chicago; two sons and daughters-in-law: Eugene and Diane Nackers, Eagle River; Edward and Janice Nackers, Appleton; all of her very special foster children; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Verona Van Lanen, De Pere; Joanne Roznowski, Green Bay; Elsie Kempen, De Pere; one brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Lillian Vissers, De Pere.
Leona was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Sylvester Nackers, on January 9, 1996; one son, Robert; one daughter, Mary Lucille; her parents; two sisters, Agnes Vande Hei and Frances Vande Hei; two brothers, Lawrence Vissers and Robert Vissers; two infant sisters.
Family and friends may call at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main Street, Wrightstown, on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, after 10 a.m. until the hour of funeral mass. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at church, with Fr. Tri Tran and Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken concelebrating. Interment will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
