Age 75, died on Monday, January 6, 1997 at his home after an unexpected illness. He was born on September 4, 1921 in Hortonville. Owen was an entrepreneur in the plastering trade starting his career as a manager for the Center Valley Feed Mill. He shared 52 years of marriage with Lyda Hardy [Duffek].
Survivors include his beloved wife, Lyda; two sons; Tim and Jim [his special friend, Ginny Sommers], Appleton; two brothers and a sister in-law; Frank and Sally Hardy, Hortonville; Norbert Hardy, Appleton; four sisters and brothers in-law; Geraldine and Matt Rossmeissel, Appleton; Maxine and Don Kramer, Appleton; Janette and Tom Woods, Appleton; Ceil and Clay LeMere, Winneconne; a sister in-law, Ione Hardy, Appleton; five grandchildren; Chip, Shannon, Tony [Denise], Jason and Kelly; three great grandchildren; Amanda, Anthony and Joshua; and a special friend, Arnie Peck, New London.
Owen was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas N. Hard; and a sister, Pat Besaw.
The funeral liturgy for Owen will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 1997, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton with Father Wilbert Staudenmaier officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass.
