Notes - Louis Schmidt, Sr., 78, died at 8:50 this morning at the home of his son, Henry, route 3, Kaukauna, after a long illness.
Born in Germany May 2, 1864, he was four years old when his parents came to Americaand settled in the town of Woodville, Calumet county. He lived there on a farm until 1923 when he retired and moved to Kaukauna. He had been living with his son since 1938.
He was a member of Holy Name society, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin., St. Joseph's society of St. Francis church, Hollandtown.
Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Nick Jaeckels, route 3, Kaukauna; Mrs. Matt Thiel, Mrs. Leonard Mersberger, route 2 Hilbert; Mrs. John Hartzheim, Sherwood; Mrs. John Maier, Thorp; three sons, Frank A. Schmidt, Thorp; Henry, route 3, kaukauna; Louis, Forest Junction; 48 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Monday morning at the Henry Schmidt home and at 10 o'clock at St. Francis church, Hollandtown, with burial in the parish cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Henry Schmidt residence after noon Friday where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
