    • Peter J. Kerkhoff, 82, of 2201 Eighth avenue West, father of on of Ashland's largest familie s and a resident of the community for the past 26 years, died this morning in a local hospita l following a lingering illness, He was the father of 16 children. Mr. Kerkhoff was born in Hollandtown, Wisconsin on July 18, 1858. He was united in marriage i n 1888 with Miss Mary Onkels and the couple came To Ashland from Greenleaf, Wisconsin. In 191 5, establishing their residence on a farm at the end of Eight avenue West for many years, Mrs . Kerkhoff died in Jan. 1926. Survivors are twelve daughters, Mrs. Cal Johnson (Elsie), Mrs. John Trogan (Marjorie); and Mr s. Fred Ronning (Eleanor, all of Ashland; Helen Kerkhoff , Green Bay; Mrs. Orville Gwyn (Rita ), Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. Wallace Carson (Isabelle), Duluth; Sister M. Bede (Clara), Fre eport, Illinois, Mrs.W.E. Scott (Loretta), Minneapolis, Mrs. Charle Parmelee (Minnie), West A llis Wisconsin; Mrs. Elizabeth Van Ark,St. Paul; Mrs. Henry Vande Hei (Nell) De Pere, Wis. an d Mrs. George Van De Hei (Anna), Est De Pere, Wis.; four sons William, Ashland; Peter, Kauka una, Wis.; Nicholas and John; both of Buffalo, New York; four sisters, Mrs. John Verboort an d Mrs. Nettie Liebergen both of Kaukauna, Mrs. Ellen Brook, Marshfield, Wis; and Mrs. Anna Ke mpen, Milwaukee; two Brothers, Andrew Kaukauna and Henry, Hollandtown; Forty-two grandchildre n and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Church. The body will lie in sta te at the Frost Home for Funerals from 6 p.m. Sunday until time of services.
