      Long illness fatal to Hugh Van Laanen

      Hugh Van Laanen, Rt. 1, died Sunday afternoon at his home following an extended illness. He was 74 years old, and a life-long resident of Bay Settlement.

      Besides his wife, the deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Florence Briennen, at home and Mrs. Gordon Wallenfang of Knoxville, Tennessee; four sons, Walter and Elmer of Green Bay, and Norman and Lawrence of Green Bay, Rt. 1; brothers, F.J. Van Laanen of Green Bay, Ed of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and John, Rt. 1; three sisters, Mrs. Verbaeten of Wrightstown; Mrs. Mary Marchant of Green Bay; and Mrs. Elizabeth Dennis of Chicago.

      The body is at Schauer and Schumacher Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at the Holy Cross Church, Bay Settlement, with burial in the church cemetery.
