    • Florence May Prohaska, passed away on May 5, 2012, nine days short of her 99th birthday, in New London. Florence, age 98, was born May 14, 1913, in Wittenberg, daughter of George and Clara (May) La Berge. In 1930, at age 17 Florence graduated valedictorian from Kimberly High School and headed for Chicago for Nurses training at St. Joseph's Hospital. Florence worked as a RN for many years. She married James R. Prohaska on June 18, 1942, in Chicago. Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Playing bridge and Scrabbleâ„¢ and watching the Green Bay Packers were some of her favorite activities. Her love of family and her faith were central to her life. Her family will never forget her great meals, especially her apple pies and dumplings. She volunteered for countless organizations and was active for many years at Most Precious Blood Parish.

      Florence was preceded in death by her husband James Prohaska, a stepdaughter Marian (Doc) DeVries, her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

      Florence will dearly missed by two children, Joseph (Carol) Prohaska, Duluth MN and Jane (David) Pollock, Cudahy WI; seven grandchildren, James (Leslie) DeVries, Tom (Teri) DeVries, Peter (Stephanie) Prohaska, Jodie (Scott) Prohaska, Ben (special friend Kari) Prohaska, Katie (Alex) Stemwell, Kyle Pollock; 4 great grandchildren, Bridget DeVries, Nicholas DeVries, Joseph DeVries and Julien Pollock. Aunt Florence will also be missed by 25 nephews and nieces and countless friends.

      The funeral mass for Florence will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
