Age 101, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at Franciscan Care Center. Mary was born March 15, 1901 in the Town of VandenBroek; daughter of the late Theodore and Georgiana (Jansen) Weyenberg. She married William Van Dera, May 23, 1921 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute and he preceded her in death March 8, 1988. The couple lived in the Town of VandenBroek until moving to Hollandtown in 1933. They enjoyed farming and belonged to St. Francis Catholic Church until moving to Little Chute in 1971 and joined the parish at St. John Church. They cherished the 66 years they had together. She enjoyed playing sheepshead, crocheting, cooking and helping on the family farm. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by four children: Henry (Blanche) Van Dera; Theodore (Jean) Van Dera, both of Kaukauna; Peter Van Dera, Freedom; Loretta Nackers, Combined Locks; 31 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, June Van Dera; two brothers: Matt (Virginia) Weyenberg and Henry Weyenberg; two sisters: Hattie Fox and Dora Hogan; a brother-in-law, Arthur Hendricks; two sisters-in-law: Marie Van Dera and Clare (Fred) DePatie.
Mary was preceded in death by a son, Robert Van Dera, Appleton; two grandchildren, Daniel and Michael Nackers; a son-in-law, Victor Nackers; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Van Dera; a brother, George Weyenberg; five sisters: Ann (Peter) Dercks, Rose (Cris) Vanden Heuvel, Frances, Mary and Gertrude Weyenberg; nine brothers-in-law: George Fox, Clem Hogen, Andrew, John (Bertha), Arnold (Margaret), Martin (Min), Wilbert, Peter and Henry (Elsie) Van Dera; six sisters-in-law: Martha Hendricks, Florence Weyenberg, Marie Van Dera, Ann (Louie) Weyenberg, Bertha (Oscar) Woldt, Kate (Ben) Berghuis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the mass.
