- Evers, Sebastian C. "Whitey"
Whitey Evers, 84, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. He was born on May 16, 1931, son of the late John and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Hietpas) Evers. On September 17, 1960, Whitey married Peggy Van Rooy at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Whitey proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. He was a longtime and very active member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. He was also a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Whitey worked at the Kimberly paper mill for 43 years as a material handler. He enjoyed gardening and bowling. Many special memories were made up at the trailer on White Clay Lake. Most importantly, Whitey enjoyed his family and keeping up on his grandchildren's activities.
Whitey is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters: Charla (Terry Ott) Derks and Karen (Sam) Ciske; grandchildren: Katie (Tom) Van Zeeland, Chris (Amanda) Derks, Bob (Jess) Derks, Shelly (Chance Bartz) Long, Andy (Will Anderson) Derks, Mitch Ciske, Josh Ciske and Emma Ciske; great grandchildren: Max, Sloane, Sutton, Kaylee, Riley, Braedy, Cory and Beau; siblings: George (Celeste) Evers, Tony (Lorayne) Evers, Katie (Raymond) Brockman and Don Evers; sisters and brothers-in-law: Ade Evers, Rosie Evers, Ronald Beattie and Bev Van Rooy; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Whitey was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ed (Vi) Evers, Ray (Del) Evers, Hank Evers, Delia (Martin) Joosten, Gordy Evers and Mary Ann Beattie; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Elvira Van Rooy; brothers and sisters-in-law: Elaine Evers, Elaine (Lester) Weyenberg and Tom Van Rooy.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Full military honors will be performed by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 after the service.
