- Clarence A. "Mike" Kons, 94, Little Chute, died Tuesday January 3, 2011 at his home. He was born on August 12, 1917 in Little Chute to the late John A. and Odelia (Schaumann) Kons. Mike married Rosella E. "Sally" LeNoble on November 27, 1941 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church where he was a lifelong member. He retired from the Appleton Paper Combined Locks Mill in 1982 after 43 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mike and his family had 25 years at their cottage at Pelican Lake, where they enjoyed fishing, boating and swimming. He also liked playing cards, hunting, bowling and fishing and was a former member of the Fox Valley Golf Club. Mike loved to travel and took trips to Germany, Hawaii, Canada, Florida, Kentucky and Ohio.
Mike is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rosella "Sally"; son David D. (Virginia), Hinckley, OH; grandchildren: David D. (Jackie) Kons Jr. and Jennifer M. (Tom Owen) Kons; great grandsons Logan J. and Joshuah D. Kons; sister: Arnella "Connie" Ballard; and Godchildren: Richard Fischer, Dennis Ballard, Pat Springstroah, Don Hearden and Joannie Bongers. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his stepmother Wilhelmina (LeNoble) Kons; brothers and sisters: Arthur (Harriet), Wilbert (Fran), Raymond (Alyce) and Angeline Kons, Laverne (Ed) Bongers, Emily (Paul) Ballard and Rita (Al) Fischer; stepbrothers and sisters: Cornelius, Frank, William, Sr. Mary Virginia, Nellie and Anne; and brother-in-law: Don Ballard.
Visitation will be held Monday January 9, 2011 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Msgr. The Kons family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John D. Swanson and Theda Care at Home, especially Leslie, Jill, Ida and Dawn, for the compassionate care given to Mike. Also, they are very grateful for the loving support given by close neighbors and friends, especially Joan Voet and Joyce and Bob Haen.
