    • Kerscher, Mary Ann (West) Kaukauna

Age 95, died at Manor Care in Appleton on Tuesday, November 5, 2002. She was born to the late Peter and Sarah (Mc Cormick) West in Kaukauna on April 6, 1907. Mary married John Kerscher in Kaukauna on February 16, 1926. Mary lived in Kaukauna for most of her life but later moved to Strawberry, California from 1986 to 1994 and later lived in Belen, New Mexico from 1994 to 2000. She then lived in Kaukauna until very recently. Raising show pigeons was a hobby enjoyed by Mary and John, as well as playing cards. She also loved her cat “Chippy.” Whenever Mary cooked, there was sure to be some onions and hot peppers in the recipe. Mary will be best known for her love of travelling to see her family.

Mary is survived by two sons: Jim (Helen) Kerscher of Los Lunas, New Mexico and Robert Kerscher of Kaukauna; one daughter, Ellen (Jim) Clawson of Kaukauna and Fort Meyers Beach, Florida; five grandchildren: Kathy (Steve) Van Rooy of Appleton, Debra (Al) Stievo of Oskosh, John (Chris) Kerscher of Kaukauna, Konny (Randy) Van Oss of Kaukauna, and Tom (Sara) Kerscher of Yorba Linda, California; seven great-grandchildren: Matthew and Michelle Stievo; J.J. and Heather Kerscher; and Kayla, Julia, and Alyssa Kerscher; one sister, Mildred Grode of Freedom, and a close friend, Les Forde.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons: John Jr. and Tom Kerscher; one grandson, Keith Kuehl; five sisters: Florence Lambie, Ellen West, Leila Remmel, Arlene Van Handel, and Margaret Holum; and three brothers: Lyle and Cyril West, and a brother in infancy; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Kerscher.

The funeral liturgy will be at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2002, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2401 Main Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna.

The family extends a special thank you to Fr. Fuller for being a good friend, the staff at Alterra Sterling House in Kaukauna, and the staff at Manor Care in Appleton. All provided compassionate care and support for Mary.
