    • Mary Ellen Hietpas, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at St. Paul Elder Services as a result of dementia. She was born on April 7, 1932, the oldest of 12 children born to Sebastian and Helen (Arnoldussen) Hietpas. She was a graduate of St. John High School, class of 1950 and was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. She retired from AT&T (formerly Wisconsin Telephone Company) and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was also very proud to be a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Little Chute for a number of years.

      She is survived by four brothers, Bob and Judy, of Appleton, Alfred (Freddy) and Pat, of Little Chute, Jerome (Jer) and Mary, of Pickerel and David and Linda, of Little Chute, five sisters, Bernice and Jerry Vandenberg, of Combined Locks, Rose Ann Lauer, of Appleton, Janet and David Janssen and Carol Jirikowic, both of Combined Locks and Joan Hietpas, of Appleton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, infant, Dolores and Joyce (Joe) Kees, brothers-in-law Norbert Lauer and Bill Jirikowic, special friend, Bob Pribel and a niece, Julie Lauer.

      Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. TODAY, Monday, February 8, 2016, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Visitation will be at the church TODAY from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.

      Mary Ellen's family would like to express deep appreciation to the staff of St. Paul Elder Services. We saw on a daily basis the excellent care she received while a resident at St. Paul on Birch Place and especially on Poppy Path.
