Helen G. Hietpas
Little Chute
Age 93, died Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna following a battle with cancer. She was born Decembeer 16, 1907 in Little Chute, daughter of Henry and Mary [Diedrich] Arnoldussen. Helen married Sebastian Hietpas in a double wedding with her sister Ann, June 30, 1931. They celebrated a double golden wedding in 1981. Sebastian preceded her in death March 23, 1986. Mrs. Hietpas was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute and the St. Elizabeth Society for over 60 years. She was a member of the Golden Agers of Little Chute and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 258. Helen enjoyed crocheting, card playing and baking, especially chocolate chip cookies.
Survivors include her children, Mary Ellen Hietpas, Alfred [Patricia] Hietpas, David [Linda K.] Hietpas, all of Little Chute; Bernice [Gerald] Vandenberg, Janet [David] Janssen, Carol [William] Jirikowic, all of Combined Locks; Joyce Kees, Hilbert; Robert R. [Judith] Hietpas, Rose Ann [Norbert] Lauer, all of Appleton; Jerome J. [Mary] Hietpas, Pickeral; Joan Hietpas, Burke, Virginia; 38 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Biese, Mary [Gordon] Lamers, Kaukauna; two sisters in-law, Mildred Arnoldussen, Appleton; Harriet Van Handel, Greenville; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents an infant daughter Delores in 1942; sister and brother in-law, Ann [Richard] Peterson; brothers and sisters in-law, Chris [Ceil], Harry, Raymond [Pearl]. Clarence and Joseph; brothers in-law, Frank Biese; sisters in-law and brothers in-law, Minnie [John] Evers, Anna Hietpas, Joe Van Handel, John [Elizabeth] Cornelius [Anna], George [Lillian, Henry [Gertrude], Peter [Minnie] and William Hietpas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001 at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
