- Age 85, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. Della was born in Little Chute on October 4, 1915, daughter of the late William and Anna (Evers) DeBruin. On January 30, 1937, Della married Carl Gast; he preceded her in death on February 3, 1995. In her younger years, she was employed by Kaukauna Club Cheese. Later, she and Carl purchased the Pine Castle in Seymour and eventually owned and operated the Hill Club in Nichols. The couple retired to Green Bay in 1980.
Della is survived by two daughters: Shirley Yonke of Appleton and Valorie (Bob) Paul of Green Bay; four grandchildren: Leanne Paul of Green Bay, Erik (Tricia) Paul of Green Bay, Leslie (Scott) Hoffmann of Oconto Falls, and April Fink of Appleton; three great-grandchildren: Kayla Posvic, Bryce Paul, and Hunter Hoffmann; four sisters: Betty (Ellis) Batley of Milwaukee, Grace Bagin of Milwaukee, Eunice (Cletus) Ertl of Little Chute, and Florence Munes of Kaukauna; two sisters-in-law: Margaret DeBruin of Milwaukee and Connie DeBruin of Menomonee Falls. Della was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl in 1995, a granddaughter Robin Lea Paul, a son-in-law Herbert Yonke in 1989, a sister Dorothy (Martin) Natrop, brothers Richard and Donald DeBruin, and brothers-in-law Eugene Munes and Frank Bagin.
Funeral services for Della will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 6, 2001 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Ronald Raddatz officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
