- Sister Romanus Ditter, age 93, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Sunday, March 24, 1996, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 1996, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Louis Fronczek, OFM with burial in Holy Family Cemetery.
The former Mary Ditter was born May 4, 1902, in Kaukauna, Wis., daughter of the late William and Anna Philipps Ditter. She entered the convent in 1916 and professed her vows in 1921. Sister Romanus earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern State College, Marquette, Mich. She served as an elementary teacher at St. Francis, Manistique, St. John, Marquette, St. Ambrose, Ironwood, St. Anne, Escanaba, St. John, Menominee, Mich.; St. John, Antigo, St. Mary, Rhinelander, St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, St. Joseph, Waukesha, St. John Baptist, Seymour, St. Gabriel, Neenah, St. Joseph, Manitowoc, St. Therese and St. Bernadette, Appleton, and St. Mary, Kaukauna, Wis. Since retiring from the teaching profession in 1984, she had been residing at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two sisters-in-law, Cordell Ditter and Arlene Ditter, Little Chute, Wis.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Holy Family Convent. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
