Age 68, passed away at his home 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, November18, 1992 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Jack and Florence (Pud) Ebben. He is the oldest of six boys. He worked for Met. Life and served the Little Chute, Kimberly and Combined Locks area. Dick graduated from St. John's Grade and High School and Marquette University, Milwaukee. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a volunteer fireman, belonged to the Legion Post 258, Little Chute; and was an usher at St. John Catholic Church. Dick was an avid golfer, bowler and swimmer at the YMCA. He loved fishing with his sons. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jacqueline (Jackie Coby) Hakkert Ebben; two sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Pat Ebben, Little Chute; Joe and Shari Ebben, Little Chute; two daughters and sons-in-law: Alice and Dennis Locy, Portage; Jane and Ken Cousins, Appleton; eight grandchildren: Heidi, Susan, Sara and Peter Locy; Laura and Luke Cousins, Levi and Samantha Ebben; five brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul and Dori Ebben, Athelstane, Wisconsin; Gerald and Rita Ebben, Barrington, Illinois; Ken and Joan Ebben, Fairfax, Virginia; Edward and Yvonne Ebben, Little Chute; Tom and Mary Ebben, Portage; five sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Chris and Richard DeCoster, Combined Locks; Lena and Bob Polakowski, Kimberly; John and Mary Anne Hakkert, Appleton; Minnie Wulterkens, Kimberly; Johanna Hakkert, Kimberly. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Florence Ebben; his mother and father-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hakkert; two brothers-in-law: Jake Hakkert and Harry Wulterkens; and a son-in-law: Mark Lappen. The funeral will be at 6 pm. Friday at St. John Catholic Church with Father Ambrose and Father Tom Peeters (cousins of Dick) officiating. Military rites will follow the mass. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of services at the church. A memorial fund has been established. A special thank you to Dr. Ryan and his staff; Dr. Van Lieshout, The Visiting Nurse Association and all those associated with Hospice. A special thanks to Tom Lohuis from the Dick Ebben Family.
