DeRuyter, Helen
Helen DeRuyter, 83, De Pere, died Sept. 19, 2008, after a short illness. The former Helen Baeten was born in Ashwaubenon, on Feb.13, 1925, the daughter of the Peter and Hattie Baeten. On June 16, 1945, she married the late Donald DeRuyter at St. Boniface Church in West De Pere. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1978. Together they farmed in the Town of Lawrence for many years. She loved gardening and bowling in her spare time.
She is survived by her children, Steve, Green Bay; Bill (Cheryl), Ohio; Sandy (Tom) Mantz, De Pere; Don, De Pere; Larry (Maureen), De Pere; Lynn, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Barb, Green Bay. Helen is further survived by her grandchildren, Matt (Kendra), Tina (Kevin) Carr, Joe (Denise Horozewski), Adam (Michelle), Green Bay, Travis and Jared, and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Harold (Mary Ann) Baeten, her sister, Donna Mae Bostedt, and her brother-in-law, Clarence Geurts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; daughter, Susan, and son, Bernie; her father and mother, Peter and Hattie Baeten; sisters, Mary Geurts, Ruth (Loren) Olson; and brother-in-law, Roy Bostedt.
Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, with a parish prayer service at 3:30 p.m. There will be NO VISITATION ON THURSDAY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Dr., De Pere, with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.
