    • Allan J. Kortas, age 90, a resident of 2929 St. Anthony Drive, Green Bay, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Parkview Manor Nursing Center, Green Bay.

      He was born March 3, 1914, in Manitowoc, son of the late John and Marie(Brittnacher) Kortas. Allan was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1931. He was a veteran of World War II with the 504th Military Police serving from 1941 to 1945 in Africa, Sicily, S. France, Italy & S. Germany. On June 8, 1946 he married the former Doris C. Wellhoefer at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Allan was a shipping supervisor with Rahr Malting for 24 years and Anheuser-Busch, Manitowoc for 16 years, retiring in 1978. Allan was a member of Manitowoc Bowling Association, Hall of Fame member, lifetime member of Eagles Aerie #706, Elks BPOE #687 and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of American Legion - Drews Bleser Post #88. Allan was the 11th Ward Alderman, serving as the president for eight years and past president of the Police & Fire Commission for ten years.

      Survivors include his wife, Doris Kortas, Green Bay; a daughter, Kay K. Smet, Green Bay; three sons and daughters-in-law, John R. & Janey Kortas, Lewisburg, W. Virginia, Thomas G. & Sharen Kortas, Hudson, Wisconsin, William A. & Linda Kortas, Chesterfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Michael Kortas, Robert Smet, Robert Kortas, Lauren Kortas, Katy Kortas and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie Smet, Morgan Smet

      The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday morning at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

      Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to The Alzheimers Association or the charity of your choice.
